If you are thinking that about having an eBay store, I would suggest that you test the waters first. You know, kind of dip your toes in and see if an eBay store is the way you want to go about selling on eBay. Many people work from home buying and selling online.
To get started with selling online and make money selling on eBay, you will want to make a strong profile. Fill out all the areas of your profile. You can even change the color of your page if you want. This can help your profile to stand out from other eBay sellers. All this is important because if a potential buyer wants to view your profile. This buyer will see that you are an active eBayer and most likely trust worthy. Be sure to keep your profile updated as a potential buyer will see this as communication and you become more “real” to buyers.
When posting a sale be sure to add every detail and mention that you are a smoke free and pet free home (only if this is true). People like things clean. Even if your item is used, make sure it’s clean. Wash or wipe down toys, clothing etc. Also be sure to post an image of your item for sale. People like to see what they are buying. If you don’t have a picture, wait until you do before you put things up for sale. I suggest this because 9 times out of 10 an item will not sell without an image. You most likely will be wasting your time and money. This is no way to make money online. You most likely will lose money.
Now you need to decide if you want to place a BIN (buy it now) button, have an auction or do both options per items you put up for sale. Keep in mind some people like bidding wars. This is when 2 or more people keep bidding higher than the other person till the auction is over. In hopes to out bid the other person to win that auction. However, while some like bidding wars others do not. This is where the BIN button works best. Also impulse buyers love the BIN button. This can mean more sales and more money for you. However keep in mind that you can use both options to sell your items. This is when people can bid on your item or hit the buy it now button. If someone hits the buy it now button , this would mean they are the winner and have out bid any other bids on that item.
In order to be able to place a BIN button on your listings, you will need 10 positive feed backs from other eBayers. From my personal experience I will tell you that you do not need to post 10 items for dirt cheap in order to make sales faster to get your 10 feedbacks. These feedbacks can also eBay sellers. Not just buyers.
Don’t forget you should have a keep a good reputation if you want to make money using eBay. Respond to emails in an appropriate time and manner. Also have fast and accurate communication between you and buyers. You want to do this because you want trust and sales. But you also want a positive feedback every time you sell on eBay. Don’t give your customers a reason to leave a negative feedback.
Make sure you package whatever it is that sold properly. If you sold something that is fragile, make sure to pack it with padding. There is nothing worse that receiving something that is broken. Lastly, don’t have your buyer waiting weeks on end for their purchased order. Be sure to ship as soon as possible.
